Welcome to the HUN-REN-SZTE Research Group on Artificial Intelligence
The Research Group on Artificial Intelligence (RGAI) belongs to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) and the University of Szeged (SZTE) Institute of Informatics. The head of the group is professor Márk JELASITY. RGAI is the oldest artificial intelligence research group in Hungary with its predecessor, called The Research Group on Theory of Automata, having been established in 1969 by László KALMÁR, who was then followed by Ferenc GÉCSEG. In 1996, the group was reorganized as the Research Group on Artificial Intelligence under the leadership of professor János CSIRIK, who was followed by professor Tibor GYIMÓTHY, who led the group between 2017-2022. The RGAI pursues active research and teaching programme in artificial intelligence.
Current research activities of the Group focus on seven research fields in AI: speech technology, natural language processing, software engineering, security, deep learning, self-organizing systems and theory and methodology of machine learning.
The group maintains continuous research cooperation with the Department of Software Engineering and the Department of Computer Algorithms and Artificial Intelligence.
Our group is the main organizer of the MSZNY 2025 conference.
